Metal can block the operation of TimeTiles because they operate through electromagnetic induction.

The metal surface behind the tile acts as a ground plane. It inhibits the performance of the tile's antenna, essentially preventing it from producing the current required to power the tile.

 iPhone 7 and later can read TimeTiles, but they must be upgraded to at least iOS 13.

All Androids, since Android 2.3, can scan TimeTiles.

No, TimeTiles do not require power. The magnetic field of your smartphone temporarily activates them to clock you in and out. So no need to worry about batteries, cables, or your power bill going up.

TimeTiles only need to be replaced if they are damaged. If a TimeTile is damaged, remove it from the wall and apply a new one. Be sure to destroy the old tile once it is removed.

There are TimeTiles for every surface, but not every TimeTile can go on any surface. 

Non-metal vs. Metal: All pre-printed TimeTiles cannot be placed on metal. Placing a TimeTile on a metal surface will prevent it from connecting with your phone when scanning. If you have any further questions or require TimeTiles that work on metal, message us at sales@timetile.store.

Indoor vs. Outdoor: We recommend that all TimeTiles be placed indoors since tiles exposed to the elements could deteriorate faster. Our tiles are made of durable Forex PVC and designed to endure the weather for prolonged periods. So, it is possible to place them outside.

It is generally best to choose a flat, smooth, clean, and indoor location for your TimeTiles. But, if this isn't achievable, fill out our custom inquiry questionnaire, and we can build a TimeTile station designed to fit your needs.

TimeTiles are tamper-proof and copy-proof.

Turnaround time for custom products depends on several factors.

Pre-Printed TimeTiles:

If you select one of our pre-printed designs, your TimeTiles will typically be shipped within 2-3 business days. Review our Shipping Policy for more information.

Custom TimeTiles:

If you want a TimeTile printed with your logo/brand, the turnaround time is 5-6 weeks. Before sending your custom TimeTile to production, we need your logo/brand files and design approval. We will keep you updated throughout every step of the production process, and your tiles will be shipped as soon as possible.

While QR codes and barcodes are helpful tools, they are not reasonable solutions for accurate and efficient timekeeping.

Barcodes and QR Codes are both methods of representing data in visual, machine-readable forms. Think of it as a URL turned into an image your phone can read. 

The big problem with QR codes and barcodes is that they offer no security. They are as safe as writing a URL on the wall. They are made to be reproduced and copied, which is why they are no substitute for TimeTiles. 

TimeTiles are impossible to reproduce. When you receive your TimeTiles, they will be locked, and no one can reprogram or copy them.

TimeTiles are the easiest way for employees to clock in and out of work accurately and efficiently.

Apply a TimeTile to any non-metal surface, and register that TimeTile to a specific job within the Chronotek Admin app. After the TimeTile is registered to that job, employees use the Chronotek app to scan the TimeTile to clock in and out of jobs in seconds.

TimeTiles can only be activated when a smartphone is prompted in the Chronotek app to scan. The phone must also be within 2 inches of the TimeTile to clock in/out in the app. This small, active range requires the employee to be at the proper TimeTile and job site to clock into or out of work.

No, the scan service can be selectively enabled and disabled at the administrative level of the Chronotek dashboard.

You can have multiple TimeTiles at one job site. TimeTiles can be labeled according to location, so you know precisely where your employees are clocking in and out.

We want you to be happy with your purchase, and if you're not, we'll do everything we can to make it right.

We offer a 30-day return policy on all new products purchased from our store. You can return new, non-customized tags for any reason within 30 days of receiving them—no questions asked! Just send us an email at sales@timetile.store to initiate a return. 

- Products must be in new condition with all original documents.

- TimeTile must authorize the return by email or verbally before you can mail products for return. 

- Products for return must be mailed to us within 10 days of authorization. 

- Original shipping and handling costs are not subject to refund.

- The customer is responsible for return shipping costs.

- Once we receive your return, processing and refund payments can take 1-2 weeks.

It can take the TimeTile warehouse up to two weeks to receive and process your return. You will receive a refund notification email once we've issued your refund!

After ordering, you will receive an automated email from TimeTile confirming the courier information and tracking number (if shipment tracking is available).

If you do not receive a shipment email, check your SPAM folder. You can also locate shipment information in the order history section of your customer account on the TimeTile website.

It can take a few hours after the tracking number is generated for the shipment carrier's system to show the shipment's movement.

We currently offer three shipping speeds within the contiguous United States. Shipping charges for your order will be calculated and displayed at checkout. Our couriers are UPS and USPS.

- UPS 2nd Day Air®: shipments arrive within the 2nd business day by 10:30 A.M. or 12:00 P.M. to most commercial destinations

- UPS® Ground: shipments to all 50 US states and Puerto Rico arrive within 1-5 business days.

- UPS® Standard: shipments to the 48 continental US states and Canada and Mexico arrive within 4-6 business days.

- USPS Priority Mail®: shipments arrive in 1-3 Business Days. This is the only option to ship to a PO Box.

The carrier (UPS or USPS) may be automatically selected based on the shipping address. 

So that you know, we only ship and deliver on business days, and only expedited orders placed before 12:30 pm ET on a business day will ship that same day. For example, an order placed with 1-business day shipping on Thursday at 2 pm ET will ship out the next day, Friday, and arrive the following Monday.

You can usually cancel your order immediately after it's placed before the order is too far along in the process.

If you need to cancel or make modifications a few days later, reach out to us at sales@timetile.store with the order number.

Sorry to hear your package wasn't delivered! Don't hesitate to contact TimeTile with the following details: order number and shipment tracking number.


If the order is lost at the fault of the shipment carrier, the order will be reshipped or refunded.

A few things can be going on if your TimeTile isn't registering.


1. Verify that you are tapping the correct spot on the smartphone. Android phones typically scan from the center, but iPhones scan from the top. Refer to the image below to better understand the correct smartphone scanning locations.


2. It may take up to one second to scan. Keep the chip in the appropriate spot for one full second.


3. Make sure that NFC settings are turned on. Androids have the option to turn OFF NFC in settings. Please make sure NFC is ON. To do it, open the Settings app, tap on Bluetooth & device connection, select Connection preferences, and finally turn the toggle for NFC to the ON position. iPhones do not have this setting. NFC should always be on in iPhone settings, but checking couldn't hurt.


4. It could be the phone case. If there is any metal in the case that will interfere with the TimeTile. Try taking off the phone case and scanning the TimeTile.
